My Wordless Wednesday post is MIA and there’s a very good reason for that. I’ve been working so hard lately that I decided to treat myself to some new programs. New programs = learning curve, so I tried to get a jump start on the post Tuesday night. It is NOW into Thursday morning and I have realized that Corel has ruined a perfectly good brand with all their “improvements.”
I’ve been firmly in the Paintshop Pro picture editing camp since PSP4 came out. I’ve never owned, operated, or even SEEN Photoshop in action. PSP handled my needs and I happily bought each new edition that came out, until the merge of Corel and JASC. I was holding steady at PSP 10 and I wasn’t going to budge….
My reasoning? I had everything I needed in PSP10 and with hundreds of dollars spent on add ons (Alien Skin and AutoFX anyone?) I didn’t want to risk losing everything. Long story short.. I broke my rule and purchased X4 and that’s where this sad story really begins. Have you ever bought a brand you trusted only to find out that somewhere along the line things had gone all wrong? That’s the feeling I have right now.
My gripe? I can’t add text to my images and apparently neither can the rest of X4′s users. The text input box is gone, unless you use a hack to work around that… then your text appears as a selection instead of anything resembling.. well.. TEXT. After reading several forums and cussing my machine all day I learned that this is KNOWN issue going all the way back to X3 (we’re on X5 now) and still there’s no fix.
Um, Corel?
If I can’t add text on images someone will steal them. I don’t say that because I’m vain, I say it because its happened, photos from my site were stolen. I was forced to hunt down the thieves and initiate a bit of vigilante justice. I’m not your only user that REALLY needs that text tool (see Exhibit A ) We don’t want this “feature” we just want the text box to work like it should,

So, now I will be uninstalling X4, reinstalling PSP10 the program I used in my picture editing tutorial. I should be back to full functionality soon. In the meantime I’d like to say I’ve enjoyed seeing all the pictures of everyone’s kiddos! SOO cute and scaretastic. Now, If I can only add mine soon– before my family kills me and disposes of my body–we’ll be all good.
