What do you do when your neighbor’s front end loader breaks down? At the beginning of this process we really had no clue. All we knew was that we needed to get the logs on the trailer and we didn’t have machine power or extra man power.

Clif used that board to pry up one edge of the log. Each time he did I’d find something that would fit under it. If you need to load sawlogs yourself, be very careful. This is dangerous work.

Loading walnut logs by hand isn’t easy. We couldn’t wrap our arms around them so picking them up wasn’t an option. The logs we took to the mill were the former trees we would use to help us with a task like this.

Diligence pays off. Well, that and the power of positive thinking. It took us six hours to load these logs. After our experience at the sawmill I wouldn’t recommend anyone do this.

  1. Wow, looks like hard work! Glad you were able to get them loaded even without the machine.
