Lately, we’ve been making ear wraps or earring cuffs here at SavvyPracticality. You can easily make your own earrings that wrap around your ear using beading wire and chain nose pliers. Watch the video below to see how we transform a length of wire into a fun and flirty fashion accessory.

To make your own DIY ear cuff you will need 20 or 24 gauge jewelry or beading wire, seed beads and a jewelry pliers kit which includes chain nose, round nose and side cutting pliers. These products can be purchased in the jewelry craft section of any store. I used seed beads for this project because my kids liked the colors I had, but you can use any type of bead you’d like for your own ear cuffs. Change the look of these ear cuffs further by using the color coated beading wire of your choice. You’ll notice I used chain¬† nose pliers in this tutorial but round nose pliers are what I’d have chosen if I could find them. I hope you guys enjoy the tutorial and forgive the late posting!

  1. Love them!

  2. I love these! And since you asked for requests, can you make something like this using feathers? :)

  3. These are very cute…I know my daughter would love to make a pair for herself!
Following from the Monday Mingle blog hop :)

    • Pamela,
Welcome to Savvy Practicality! I’m sure your daughter would love this project as much as mine do. Making ear cuffs is a great way to add a bit of personal style to your jewelry collection.

  4. I have looked so long for a good video on making ear cuffs—your’s is the best, thanks so much

  5. Fantastic video! Thank you!! I will try to make a couple of ear cuffs today!!

  6. What size wire did you use?

    • I use 20 or 24 gauge wire for ear cuffs. I want the wire to hold its shape but still be pliable enough to make the bend. I hope you enjoy making them and I’d love to see your creations!

  7. How long was your wire?

    • I start with 4 inches of wire for each ear cuff project. You can always cut some off, but its near impossible to put extra wire on. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. This is great! I am going to make some for my 6 year old. So that she can have “earrings” without having to get pierced ears!! Thank you for the tutorial!

    • Felicia, I hope your little girl loves them as much as mine do! Have a great time and if you have any questions drop back by and I’ll try to answer them. Happy Crafting!

  9. Do these stay on? I tried to make one, and it seemed to come out just fine, but compared to my other one it fell of quite easily (my other one wraps around inside of ear too but just back).

    • Dani try a stiffer gauge wire. I use 24-20 gauge. If the ear wrap doesn’t seem sturdy enough, or like it will hold its form well, drop down to 18 gauge wire. I haven’t had any problems, but ear shape could be a factor. Happy Crafting!

  10. I love your designs! Do you have any other designs you could share?

    • Hi Willow,
Thanks for stopping by. I have a few other designs that I do. I wrap free hand without a jig, so I posted the easiest wrap first. I’ll see if I can’t get some others up for you guys to practice on.

  11. I really love these, but where did you buy this wire ?
